Here at Fiorello’s, we’re all about community. In our new Foodie-rello’s blog series, we’re taking the opportunity to highlight some of our favorite local businesses, and introduce the Fiorello’s eatership to whom we consider the “Best of the Bay Area.” Living in such a culturally rich locale, with no shortage of fantastic fine dining and family-owned markets to source nutritious food, we think it’s only right. This week, we’re driving up to nearby Kenwood, where Wine Truffle Boutique calls their home.
Wine Truffle Boutique is a chocolate and gelato bar, uniquely located at VJB Vineyards & Cellars in Kenwood — Sonoma Valley’s own “Little Italy.” They specialize in artisan chocolates — crafted in small batches, hand-dipped and infused with local wines, spices & fruits, creating unparalleled flavors you won’t find anywhere else.
For as long as she can remember, business owner Regina Taormina Rolland has been cooking with, and for her family and friends. After arriving in northern California at the age 22, the upstate New York native continued honing her culinary skills. Years ago, Regina noticed that the VJB tasting room, located on her street, was missing chocolate in their shop. She struck up a few conversations with the Belmonte family, who owns VJB Vineyard and Cellars, and eventually they offered to open up a dessert bar at the Vineyard. Fast forward to today, Wine Truffle Boutique will be celebrating ten years in business this summer!
Inspired by the wine industry (and her Sicilian roots), Regina knows the importance of using fresh, high quality local ingredients. In addition to their fabulous chocolate products, Wine Truffle Boutique also proudly serves Fiorello’s Artisan Gelato.
“We searched for the most authentic Italian gelato made locally because our location demanded it. Being an Italian Winery we wanted to serve the best. Fiorello’s, by far, stood out amongst the rest. From their flavors to their customer service, we have remained loyal to their brand and proudly serve it.”
Wine Truffle Boutique is the culmination of a team effort. Regina works alongside her two daughters, and Manager Rayna Shinn, who are all instrumental in the store’s success and customer’s experience. Besides having a stellar team to work with, we asked Regina what she loves most about working at Wine Truffle Boutique:
“We love our location most of all and the draw it has. Our customers are enthusiastic and truly love experiencing all that our shop offers as it is unique to the area. I enjoy my customer’s excitement when they come in for the first time — even if they have been into the shop before, they are always happy to return and experience new flavors, or enjoy their favorites.”
