The Local Food Community Pillars: Tamalpie Pizzeria

Dishes

Here at Fiorello’s, we’re all about community. That’s why we’re embarking on a new community building blog where we’ll be highlighting some of our favorite local businesses and partners, primarily here in Marin County, and occasionally elsewhere too. Our goal is to bring attention to the good, hardworking folks nearby — who not only support us — but more importantly keep our families fed, and healthy.

The Bay Area is a culturally rich locale, with no shortage of fantastic fine dining, and small, family-owned markets to source nutritious food. This ongoing blog series is our opportunity to shine some light on these community pillars, and introduce the Fiorello’s eatership to whom we consider the “Best of the Bay Area.” If you’re a fan of Italian food and frequent Mill Valley, you’re probably already familiar with our second community partner spotlight, Tamalpie, truly one of our favorite eateries nearby.

Tamalpie specializes in Italian and New American cuisine, and offers both indoor and outdoor heated seating. Their exquisite menu celebrates seasonal, organic, and local ingredients. Some of our own favorite dishes there include their Arancinis, the Bolognese, which features homemade pappardelle, and the Fall Dipsea Pizza (butternut squash, brown butter, sage, caramelized onion, prosciutto di parma, burrata & mozzarella). Yum!

Their fully stocked bar boasts an extensive range of wines, champagnes, and both draft and bottled beers; there’s something for everyone with dozens of beverage choices available (plenty of soft drinks for the kiddos too). After dinner, Fiorello’s Gelato is always on tap for dessert. So says Executive Chef Gesser De Leon:

“Fiorello’s has been a staple for many restaurants in Marin. We feel lucky to continue to work with such passionate vendors like Fiorello’s, and serve their delicious gelatos and Italian ice creams. One of our favorite flavors is the Salted Maple Pecan Ice Cream.” (It’s one of ours too 🙂 )

Home of the “48-Hour Rise Pizza”, Tamalpie proudly employs 29 workers, and was inspired by the community itself. When we asked founder Karen Goldberg what the most rewarding aspect of working at Tamalpie, her answer was “my team”. We can relate! Her favorite part of the job is simply being present:

“Marin County is a beautiful place with amazing food and amazing people. When people go out to eat, they’re enjoying themselves; sometimes celebrating a special day. Many times we get to be part of that.”

It’s no secret that Marin County is a special place to work and live, and we, here, are indeed lucky to be surrounded by amazing food, and friends, everywhere we look. Next time you’re out and about in Mill Valley, do yourself a favor and have a meal at Tamalpie Pizzeria, or call in a pick up (or delivery) order. They also offer catering options (with at least 48 hours advance notice), and gift cards too (great for stocking stuffers). You’ll thank us later!
