The Food Community Pillars: Pizzeria Violetta

Here at Fiorello’s, we’re all about community. In our new Foodie-rello’s blog series, we’re taking the opportunity to highlight some of our favorite local businesses, and introduce the Fiorello’s eatership to whom we consider the “Best of the Bay Area.” Living in such a culturally rich locale, with no shortage of fantastic fine dining and family-owned markets to source nutritious food, we think it’s only right.

We’re over in the East Bay today grabbing a pizza pie from visiting Pizzeria Violetta, a new Oakland Pizzeria recently opened by Jonathan and Sarah Ruppert.

Pizzeria Violetta specializes in hand-crafted, thin-crust pizzas, crafted from the freshest local, organic and natural ingredients available in the bountiful Bay Area.

With an emphasis on
local, this boutique pizzeria proudly sources their tomatoes and vegetables from Northern California farms, and their dairy and charcuterie products (all 100% non-GMO, hormone-free) from nearby Petaluma.

The Rupperts opened Pizzeria Violetta in the summer of 2021.

Both longtime lovers of pizza, one of Jonathan’s first kitchen positions was operating a wood-burning pizza oven and he’s been fascinated with the craft ever since.

Fast forward to the birth of their daughter Violet in 2019, Jonathan decided that after 30 years of working in the luxury hospitality/high-end culinary environment, it was time to redirect his skill set and experience to build their own dream establishment — a gourmet pizzeria that serves as their daughter Violet’s namesake.

Their 18” pies come in the most traditional forms (Margherita, Pepperoni) with plenty of specialty offerings as well.

The Sweet Little Pig Pizza (brown sugar candied bacon, artisan pepperoni, fresh basil, cheese blend, house-made tomato sauce) will catch the eye of anyone with a sweet tooth, while their mouthwatering Mediterranean Pizza will leave olive and feta lovers rejoicing.

Beverage offerings feature a generous choice of soft drinks, craft beer, and wines from California and all around the world.

Give your meal a healthy start with a fresh made salad, and top it off with a dessert cookie (made fresh daily), and of course, a scoop of our very own Fiorello’s Artisan Gelato — always made right here in Main County, and always on tap at Pizzeria Violetta.

We choose Fiorello’s because of the high quality ingredients used to make their gelato. We truly appreciate the story of Tony building his business right here in the Bay Area.
