Fiorello's Artisan Gelato

Here is how it all started:

Fiorello’s Founder Anthony Bonviso’s passion for ice cream began when he was a kid. His love for making authentic gelato was instilled by family members during his childhood, while growing up in an Italian neighborhood in Connecticut.

Despite his lifetime love of culinary arts, he moved to California in the 1970’s to pursue a career as a professional hairstylist.

After a decade of riding around on his Harley, Tony felt compelled to manifest the passion he had as a kid.

One warm summer night, he stirred up a homemade batch of ice cream for himself. It was then that he realized his true purpose was to return to his culinary roots. This is when he felt the calling to the dessert industry.

Intent on a mission to craft the world’s finest gelato — right here in Marin County, California — that’s exactly what he did.

He spent years experimenting with local dairy products, hand-selected ingredients and truly unique flavor combinations. He even modified his gelato-making machines to meet his strict standards.

He wanted to provide an airless gelato for the highest density, smoothest texture and finest quality.

His journey eventually took him overseas to Rimini, Italy, where he reconnected with his Italian heritage, family and friends.

He was constantly searching for the secrets to chefing authentic Italian gelato.

It took Tony a full year of relentlessly experimenting with different formulas until he finally fulfilled his quest.

On September 20th, 1982, Tony proudly launched Fiorello’s, and began serving his perfected version of gelato to dessert-lovers all over the Bay Area and beyond.

Nearly 40 years later, his expertise as master architect of frozen desserts remains unmatched. He thrives on finding a balance between original, authentic and cutting-edge innovation.

In addition to gelato, Fiorello’s offers a wide range of delicious dessert products, including sorbets, seasonal specialties, wine-flavored combinations, sculpted shapes, and over one hundred different flavors.
