Here at Fiorello’s, we’re all about community. In our new Foodie-rello’s blog series, we’re taking the opportunity to highlight some of our favorite local businesses, and introduce the Fiorello’s eatership to whom we consider the “Best of the Bay Area.”

Today, we’re hopping over to St. Helena in Napa County, to pay a visit to Gary’s Wine and Marketplace.
Gary’s is a gourmet marketplace and wine store in Napa Valley. Originally founded by Gary Fisch in New Jersey in the 1980’s, he opened his Bay Area store in 2019 at the old Dean and Deluca location in St. Helena.
Gary wanted to give new life to the beloved storefront and highlight great wine, craftsmanship, and local foods. Inspired by Northern California cuisine and good old fashioned hospitality, the east coast wine connoisseur goes far out of his way to source only the best gourmet items, with a preference for those made nearby.
Gary’s Wine and Marketplace proudly boasts the largest selection of local and imported wine available in St. Helena. While Gary’s specializes in gourmet foods and wines, they also carry an abundance of gourmet grocery items, making it a one-stop shop for all your kitchen needs.
Gary’s freezer aisle is naturally stocked with your favorite flavors of Fiorello’s Gelato. Claiming Mint Chip and Salted Caramel as his favorite flavors, Gary says:
“Apart from being made locally by an amazing group of people, we chose Fiorello’s because it’s our favorite gelato to eat!”
It might sound like a one-man-show but it’s not — the specialty food store employs over two dozen staff members. Being a good neighbor has always been a goal at Gary’s.
“We want to provide services to our neighbors that they can’t get elsewhere - or at least not at the level we can provide!”
He says the most rewarding aspect of his job is meeting community members and getting to know them better.
“There is something about chatting over your morning latte that makes you friends quickly!”
